In this newsletter we have a special message from Craig Watson, General Manager of the Sydney Props Group. We also feature some coloured glassware from Chair Covers Candelabra, textured flats and set builds from Custom Elements – and some examples from our Melbourne Cup Theme.
Dear valued client
During these very uncertain times I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support of the Sydney Props Group.
I particularly want to recognise those customers who have been using our services over many years and hopefully many more years to come – we really appreciate your patronage and it is a pleasure to work with you.
Like many other industries, the Events Industry is really struggling and we all look forward to a time in the future when we can all get back to together to have a bit of fun.
I want to assure you all that The Sydney Props Group will be here to support you in any way we can.
Our core businesses
For those of you who may not know, our services include:
- Prop hire, event styling and theming through Sydney Prop Specialists.
- Film and photographic studio hire through Sydney Props Photo Studios.
- Linen, table, chair hire, event styling for weddings and events through Chair Covers Candelabra.
- Custom prop and set builds through Custom Elements.
- In-house Audio-Visual services through Sydney Event Services.
Our studios are open
Over the last few months, we have been fortunate in that we have film, television and photographic studios where we have assisted customers in undertaking essential work during lockdown periods under strict enforcement of NSW health and safety regulations. This will continue and we have a Covid Safety Plan in place – health and safety of both our staff and clients is paramount to us.
All of our studios have a point of difference from texture, soundproofing, ready to shoot sets, cycloramas and green screen – see the link above to our studios and if you download brochures you will see floor plans, features and rates of each. If we can help at any time please reach out.
Also, during lockdowns prop hire is still operating on a click and collect basis.
We're hiring
I would also like to take this opportunity to recognise our valued staff, who have also supported the group in the difficult times of the last 18 months, unfortunately many have left the business to other industries.
This opens up opportunity for others interested in what we do as we hope to recruit new and enthusiastic people over the next few years in many different roles including warehouse and logistics, workshop builders and painters, stylists and sales – no two are the same at the Sydney Props Group.

Unique Coloured Glassware
Chair Covers Candelabra stocks a large range of coloured glassware with many unique styles.

Custom Set Builds
As well as servicing the eight studios in the Marrickville facility, we also custom build sets for use in other studios throughout Sydney and also for location use for shoots, exhibitions and events.
For studio builds, we can accommodate lighting with breakaway walls and ceiling panels and create sets with special characteristics such as forced perspective and forground miniature element inclusion.
We understand the needs of production and can supply Art Directors with the resources they need from concept, through to previs, working drawings, sample sheets and mood boards – and the build.
Set Pieces and Scenic Art
We have a large range of flats with textured brickwork, wallpaper and painted finishes – great for studio work and as components for themed events and exhibitions.
We also have a large selection of backdrops for photographic work – and we can create new cloths to custom palettes.
Melbourne Cup Theme
We know the race is not until November, but if you are planning an office event or trackside party, call us now and book your race day props.
We have quite a few lifesize horses in our stables that can be painted and treated in a variety of ways for theme and brand purposes – but they will quickly gallop off as we get closer to the date – so don’t be late.
Trackside spectacle or office party
We can create spectacular garden arches and racing podiums, service bars with an equestrian vibe, chillout areas with crazy furniture – for indoor use or outdoor garden party.
Give your guests the red carpet treatment – with our red carpet 😍 And don’t forget picket fences – we have truckloads!
